Artemisinin 100 mg (90 Caps)
These pure Artemisinin capsules by Allergy Research Group include the active constituent of the herb Artemisia annua (also known as sweet wormwood). Research has shown that artemisinin is particularly beneficial at balancing the microbiology of the gastrointestinal tract.
Allergy Research Group’s Artemisinin
Although there has been a lot of buzz in recent years about artemisinin‚ Allergy Research Group has been committed to delivering this high-quality herb to the U.S. market for more than a decade. An independent potency assay is done on each and every batch and independent tests are done to verify its effectiveness. Allergy Research Group delivers artemisinin that is a minimum of 98.5 percent pure‚ and does not contain any thujone (a naturally occurring ketone and monoterpene that is used to make absinthe).
What is Artemisinin?
Artemisinin is an herb that has been used for centuries as a fever-reducer‚ anti-parasitic medicine and treatment for disorders of the skin. In fact‚ the earliest record of this herb being used as medicine is from 200 BC. Its popularity waxed and waned over the years‚ but it was rediscovered in the 1960s when the Chinese military began testing artemisinin as a potential treatment for malaria. What they had found was that artemisinin cleared malaria parasites from people who were infected faster than any drug in history ever had. But‚ they were the only ones who knew about this breakthrough until results were published in the Chinese Medical Journal in 1979.
Since that time‚ many studies have been done on the effects of artemisinin on malaria‚ and in 2004‚ the World Health Organization endorsed it as a first line of defense for treating malaria.
Artemisinin Dosage and Side Effects
Artemisinin is generally well-tolerated‚ meaning that it produces few side effects. However‚ there are rare reports of negative reactions seen by some patients who were taking high doses. Other patients have experienced a detoxification effect as the microbes begin dying off. Artemisinin is considered an oxidant‚ so it works best when it is not taken alongside antioxidants. Artemisinin has also been known to interact with iron‚ so avoid taking it alongside iron-rich foods or multivitamins. For the best absorption‚ take artemisinin alongside fatty foods‚ such as ice cream‚ yogurt‚ whole milk or cod liver oil.
